Sunday 165mm Saker Cranks

The Saker Cranks are designed to be an affordable 3-pc crank with tubular chromoly arms that have a single pinch bolt design.  It uses a 19mm chromoly spindle with 8 splines. The cranks include a 19mm Mid BB with spacers. Available in RHD only.  Comes in black or chrome. Description directly from Sunday site.

I wanted to try a 165mm crank arm length. I haven't ran 165mm arms since my 1995 Monty T-219.The price was right. Less than a hundred bucks.Last pair of cranks i had like this lasted 5 years. I bent a Profile GDH last year. I think they lasted something like 3 months. Put my cheap ass Haro cranks back on. they were 175mm .I wanted to try 165s so Sunday Saker fit the bill. After a month of riding they are perfect.No problems no creaks.The only tweak was a little extra blue loctite on the bolts.

Well after wanting a free coaster for a couple of years. What a let down.Who would make a MTB hub that you cant use for jumping. I have had this hub for less than a week. I replaced bearings 4 times. I knew going in that this hub was based on there BMX version. I assumed they had oh i don't know tested it before putting it on sale. This hub blows out drive side bearings like there going out of style.

Bottom line. Don't buy one. It could have been brilliant but its the opposite of that. Its fun for flatland only. If used for anything else you will brake it. I can't see how this free coaster design is used by so many other company's. Being a Trials rider most of the parts i use are MTB parts. The quality is so much better. Sorry Khe your hub is in my opinion is junk!

KHE mtb free coaster update

I rode Saturday and Sunday all park duty. Slacky engagement took some time to get used to . By the end of first day slack was not an issue. Hub bearings felt okish. Half way through Sunday session hub started feeling a little crunchy. This morning i took it apart and drive side hub bearing(the one in hub shell not the cog)was shot. Replaced with a bearing with a heaver load rating. I am not impressed so far.I would have thought the hub would have been engineered better than this. Fingers crossed bearing upgrade will work out. At this moment though i would not recommend buying.  MTB street style riding is getting more popular in USA now. I don't think this hub is the answer. Help me Profile Racing you are my only hope.

Only MTB free coaster currently available that i could find. I had to get it from Australia.

After building wheel and one session at the skate park.I have to admit all the irritation trying to get one of these hubs. Its in the 2015 catalog. It is pretty nice. Nobody in USA had one. KHE was little help.I was buying not trying to get something for nothing. It took a little while to get used to the slacky engagement (i am running the least amount of slack 1/4 crank ish) but can report it works well. first ten minutes of riding it had a wicked pop when landing backwards. It went away quickly. Not as nasty about to brake sounds of other free coasters i have seen. Come on Profile get your shit together. I think you can do better. If i can ever get one. Going from a white industries trials freewheel to this is funky but fun.

Braking News

First casualty of spring riding season.This is the second Shimano ZEE caliper i have broken. They seem to last about 6 months and they have broken in the same place,

I gave these Clarks rotors a go. They worked ok/well. Pulsated at low speed. Cleared water and dirt just fine.Down side inconsistent manufacturing. Rotors measured less than 180mm and you can see from picture that different amounts of material has been removed from the rotors. These rotors pulsated really bad with single piston calipers i thought. Could use a little more surface area to reduce pulsing.

Like these Magura  Storm 180mm . I swapped these for the Clarks .After a couple of weeks of riding. multiple brake pad compounds they perform great. Good price. Dissipate heat well,

                                             
                                               
Kool Stop organic pads for saint brakes. Great low temperature operation(they dont need heat in the pads to work) power and modulation. I don't recommend these for high speed prolonged braking. Great for trials.Be sure to bed in pads properly. They will last longer and work better.

700c commuter. shimano internal 8 speed.roller brakes.dynamo hub. led lights. Columbus zona tubing.flat handlebars fenders chain guard rack  belt drive compatible 72*head angle 72* seat angle  eccentric bottom bracket old school pump mounts. want one?

shimano zee update.

shimano zee brakes work great but on and off problems. i find that i have to mess with they more often now.they are almost a year old now.besides snapping the mounting ear off one caliper(shimano is 180mm adapter being the cause) and braking the handlebar mount off one lever they have been good to me.

                                                                   .latest failure leaves me a little bummed out.plastic pivot bushing for brake lever gave up the ghost last night.brake still worked wich was a pluse but plastic come on.if that works best shimano should send a extra pair with the brake set.its an easy fix.if you have the parts.

would i buy them again ? not sure. sram has fixed there no reservoir on the lever problem but the extra cash fore the hope trials setup may be worth the pain in the wallet.

first the reviews Clarks 180mm rotors.they work fine but not made so good.bought these two rotors at same time made inconstantly.1mm different diameter and different amount of material remover from rotor.they installed just fine.worked great.good price but i dont know.
